A friend of mine burst through the studio door one warm September afternoon. “Dude, we need to go to this!” he exclaimed, holding up a flyer. On it were details for the 24th Jerome Jamboree, a local gathering of V-dub aficionados put on by the Arizona Bus Club. With only two days to prepare we immediately began growing beards and packed up our camera gear.

The journey bordered on the cliché: beginning with a fuel leak that gushed forth from the passenger side at every left turn, and ending with vapor lock and an overheating motor to nurse back home. In between was the scenic-but-slow drive up a freshly oil-covered two-lane highway to Jerome, excellent margaritas, great food, and all the classic Volkswagen porn one could want.
